A wonderful friend of ours is living / visiting family in North Carolina right now which is also the home of  inspirational sculptor Patrick Dougherty. Today, she posted me a clipping from the local arts pages about an installation of his which was inspired by wasp nests and I revisited his website. I found a link to a lovely  recent New York Times article about how he built his own cabin out of found materials.  I am particularly fond of the bit where he started making his stick works at 36 years old as a house husband with two kids…  I’ve a got a year up my sleeve. Thanks Beej x
